Introduction - Wild Trails ↟ Pembrokeshire

We’ve been exploring these trails for all of our lives. Pembrokeshire has some of the best trails in the world. From the world-famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path to the quieter tracks that disappear across headlands, through woodland and down towards hidden coves, there is always somewhere new to explore.

Over the years, we’ve walked and run countless miles of this coastline, often with a camera not far away. Some routes have become old favourites — the wild coastline around Marloes and Dale, the cliffs and beaches around Stackpole and Barafundle, the trails surrounding St Govan’s and Bosherston, and the rugged stretches further north around Solva, Porthgain, Whitesands and Strumble Head. They’re places we return to again and again, watching them change with the seasons, the weather and the light.

Running these trails gives you a completely different relationship with the landscape. You begin to know every climb, rocky descent and muddy shortcut. You remember where the path suddenly opens onto the sea, where the evening light catches the cliffs, and those stretches where you can run for miles with little more than the sound of the wind and the Atlantic beside you.

A lot of the photographs in our collection have come from days like these. Sometimes we’ve headed out specifically to photograph a location; other times we’ve simply stopped halfway through an adventure because the light, weather or view was too good to pass by. Those spontaneous moments have produced some of our favourite images of Pembrokeshire.

So we’re putting together some of our favourite Pembrokeshire trails — from short coastal adventures to longer days on the Coast Path. Along the way, we’ll share the routes, the places worth stopping and some of the photographs we’ve captured there.

Hopefully they’ll inspire you to pull on your boots or running shoes and discover a little more of Pembrokeshire for yourself
